So I just got done watching the midnight showing of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and it was a great movie. It was well worth the money in these harsh economic times :). I went into the movie with pretty high expectations. Liking all the past X-Men movies, and the role Hugh Jackman played in each, I knew that it would be a good movie. I was hoping for a great one and was satisfied.
The only let down of the entire movie was this..... Some of the special effects sucked! I got the feeling that may have been the last parts they were trying to get done, then totally forgot about going back and fixing some of them. I am not going to spoil anything by saying some of this, but notice when Wolverine looks at his blades in front of the mirror for one of the first times it looks so bad. Like a freaking 90's movie. Also the explosions and some of the last scenes with the green screen backdrops, you could definitely tell what was fake and what was real.
The story was pretty well written. I mean I really did not follow the X-Men comics, and I know there is no way they got everything right with them, but the story was there, kept you interested and not bored. There was a lot of mutant characters, from what I over heard after the movie and from my friends, that were in the comics that were introduced in this movie. Some that haven't been in any of the other ones. Over all, the movie was a strong 8, but still I would say it is a must see. A very good movie to start this summer of, hopefully, great movies. Oh and if you stuck around for this whole review, then stick around for the whole movie too. There are several alternate endings of the movie. One after each movie credit, and different ones at different movies. I think I will just wait for the DVD to see all of them.
