When you've got a good thing going, why stop it? This chica can keep the movie reviews rolling at a $1 a night via the Red Box. Tonight I was in the mood for action (giggles), so I picked up G.I. Joe.
I used to live with my cousins- both of them were boys. So, I was a tomboy by necessity: scraping my knees climbing trees, catching bugs, racing bikes, building forts and watching boy cartoons like G.I. Joe.
So, I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into, though I will be honest. The reason I wanted to see this so badly was because of the preview. That was a well designed 2 minutes of action-based teaser. I was hooked. And, the action throughout the movie made me wish I had gotten to the theater in time to see it on the big screen. My goodness gracious- it was AMAZING! I was breathless at some of the sequences...as if I were the stunt man or something like that...(I know. I am pathetic.) And, as amazing as some of the actions scenes were, there is still that loud voice inside of me that screams, "Farce! Farce! That cannot possible EVER HAPPEN!! Don't believe it. There is no way they would survive!!" Blah, blah, blah. I've heard that voice before. I try to fashion it with its own iron mask, and demand it to be silent.
Okay, so here's a list of things that I liked:
1. The McCullen family history was interesting. Nice that they tied some 17th century history into modern day revenge.
2. Nanomites- AWESOME!
3. I want a gun just like Anna's! What was that? Sonic boom blast guns?! I want one!!
4. The agility and sensitivity of the aircraft was very cool. I wonder if we'll get there one day in the near future.
5. Overall technology: the gadgets were awesome- they had something for just about everything. And the facilities (The Pit and the underwater fortress of evil) were....WOW!
One thing I didn't like at all:
The ending was so rushed. We find out that Rex is the evil scientist and that he's gone over the edge with his nanomites- even going so far as to inflict his own sister. Then he supersedes McCullen in one fell swoop. And then, next thing you know, he is the "commander." All a little fast for me. I like my evil overthrows to be a little slower than that.
