The Other Questions Linger: The Book of Eli Movie Review

Posted by Jennifer in Action/Adventure

Jennifer

First let me say, I am glad for guy friends. If not for my movie buddy, I would have been watching Valentine's Day or some such chick flick, wasting my time away with bon-bons. Instead, I had a list of 4 movies to choose from: The Book of Eli, Shutter Island, The Blind Side and From Paris with Love. The most chick of those flicks, I've already seen (The Blind Side). So, what's left? Not Shutter Island- I'm too….well, let's just say, if you want a review on that movie, don't expect me to have written it. I am too chicken. There. I said it. So, my response to him was Paris or Eli. And so, Eli it was; a 9:35pm showing at Alamance Crossings.

Star Trek (2009): Movie Review

Posted by Jennifer in sci-fi

Jennifer

I first saw the 2009 movie release of Star Trek at the uber-fabulous Warren Theater in Moore, Oklahoma. As soon as it was done, I called my parents, the people who influenced me to become the sci-fi geek that I am today, and shouted into the receiver, "Oh my gosh, that was SO GOOD!!!"

Let's chalk it up to it being a holiday week that I am spitting out the movie reviews like crazy.

G.I. Joe: "Knowing is Half the Battle"

When you've got a good thing going, why stop it? This chica can keep the movie reviews rolling at a $1 a night via the Red Box. Tonight I was in the mood for action (giggles), so I picked up G.I. Joe.

The Ugly Truth: "Thanks for coming tonight!"

Coming off a weekend of movie overload, you'd think I'd have had enough. Well, that's not the case. I was enjoying writing up my movie reviews for latest releases in the theater, I thought I would take a look at the recent releases in the rental world. That and going to the movies on a weeknight with a little kid in the house just isn't a reality for this mom.

So, I went to my favorite place to rent movies: The Red Box (mine box happens to be located in my local Wal-Mart).

The Blind Side: Movie Review

I had some free time last Sunday morning, and Alamance Crossings Carousel Cinemas offers an pre-matinee price for movies before 2pm. They call it the Early Bird, a $5.50 ticket. I can definitely handle that. Even this chica-on-a-budget can go see movies to her heart's content and write awesome movie reviews on that cheap ticket price.

Planet 51: Make Sure Your Attenas Are Up

Posted by Jennifer in Animation

Jennifer

I caught the 11:10pm showing of Planet 51 at the Alamance Crossings Carousel Cinemas last Saturday night (I am a little behind on my movie reviews)- I don't think the Burlington population cares much for animation past 11pm at night. I was the only one in the theater- a rare treat. And perfect under the circumstances, because I got to kick my feet up and enjoy a steady flow of sincere giggles and chuckles (and every now and then a good hard laugh and snicker).
